Welcome to Samba da Alegria
Samba da Alegria is a community drumming organization based in Arcata, California, dedicated to sharing the joy and energy of Brazilian samba.
Our classes are open to everyone, regardless of musical or movement experience. Each year, participants learn samba rhythms, build community, and perform together in the annual North Country Fair Samba Parade.
We also host guest teachers from Brazil and across the United States and collaborate with local Brazilian dance organizations through classes, performances, and community events.

Our Community
Samba da Alegria runs community drumming classes in Arcata, Humboldt County, California, which are open to everyone regardless of musical or movement ability. Our classes culminate every year in an annual Samba Parade, which anyone can participate in if they attend enough classes. We also bring guest teachers of Brazilian music and dance from Brazil and the U.S. to Humboldt for our community to learn from. SdA performs at various community functions and collaborates with our local Brazilian dance organization by playing for dance classes and performances.
